Do you think you’re too busy to volunteer?

Many people want to help but believe they don’t have the time. The good news is that you don’t need hours to make a meaningful difference. At Badisa, and any NGO, even small contributions go a long way.

As a welfare organisation with 134 programmes across the Western, Southern and Northern Cape, Badisa depends on volunteers to continue offering support and care where it’s needed most. When you’re pressed for time, your skills, knowledge, and simply your presence can still make a real impact.

Why your involvement matters

Volunteers are vital to Badisa’s future and central to Badisa’s strategy to futureproof its work in a rapidly changing world. As NGOs face financial uncertainty, growing service demands, and evolving compliance requirements, volunteers provide essential support that allows Badisa to continue delivering care where it is needed most.

Your support allows our staff to focus on core responsibilities while you step in where capacity is limited, whether it’s helping with admin, running a fundraising event, or offering a specialised service. It also helps us cut unnecessary costs and make our programmes more sustainable.

You benefit from volunteering, too. Volunteering offers purpose, builds confidence, enhances wellbeing, and connects people from various walks of life. It’s especially enriching for retired individuals or young people looking to gain experience.

Volunteering when you’re short on time

Offer your professional skills

If you have expertise in areas such as finance, HR, counselling, or IT, offering your skills to a Badisa programme is an excellent way to make a difference without a long-term time commitment. Volunteers have previously helped social workers set up therapy rooms, trained staff in computer basics, or designed awareness campaign materials.

Help out practically

Many Badisa programmes need hands-on help that doesn’t require a major time investment. You could assist by sorting through clothing donations, delivering meals to older persons, or helping at a soup kitchen for just an hour or two. These acts may seem small, but they fill vital gaps in our services and directly impact the communities we serve.

Assist with admin or group activities

For those who are detail-oriented or enjoy working behind the scenes, administrative and group support tasks are a great fit. You might help a programme capture monthly data, assist in coordinating youth groups or seniors’ clubs, or offer support with newsletters and community communication. These roles are flexible and easy to fit into a tight schedule.

Fundraise in your circle

If you don’t have much time to spare but still want to help, consider using your networks to raise funds or resources. You can organise a raffle at work, host a tea or lunch to raise awareness, or collect items like toiletries or non-perishable food for a specific Badisa programme. These activities provide crucial support and help keep services running.

Find a good fit

Anyone can volunteer, regardless of their time constraints. Whether you’re a student with a few free hours, a retiree with skills to share, or a professional looking to give back, Badisa has a place for you.

Volunteering with Badisa means becoming part of a compassionate, community-driven movement that delivers hope, care, and support to thousands of people. Your time, no matter how limited, helps us build stronger, more resilient communities.
