Huis van Heerde: Over a Century of Resilience

Huis Van Heerde has weathered many significant events, from World Wars and Apartheid to the COVID-19 pandemic. The home opened its doors in 1920, following the flu epidemic that left many children homeless. Reverend Van Heerde, the founder of the children’s home, envisioned a sanctuary where orphaned and vulnerable children would be supported, protected, and nurtured.
