Service delivery to children is supported by Badisa’s Management Programme, which regularly reviews and updates the organisation’s policies to ensure compliance with legislation and the requirements of the Department of Social Development (DSD).
The 13 managers overseeing the social services programs provide essential training to professional social service providers, ensuring they are competent in the following areas:
- Identifying Opportunities: Facilitating family and childcare services in communities with significant needs and limited resources.
- Implementing Services: Successfully carrying out child care and protection services.
- Applying the Children’s Act: Ensuring that the Children’s Act is implemented in the best interest of the children reported.
- Compliance with Norms and Standards: Understanding and adhering to the norms and standards set by the Department of Social Development.
- Following Standard Operating Procedures: Ensuring compliance with the standard operating procedures established by the Department of Social Development.
- Building Knowledge and Skills: Establishing a foundation of knowledge and skills necessary for the implementation of family and child protection services.
- Practicing Good Social Work: Understanding and implementing good social work practices that comply with the Ethics Code of the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP).
The managers of the Social Service Programs are responsible for providing practice guidelines, supervision functions, and mid-level managerial tasks such as liaison and coordination to formulate and execute policies effectively. They are tasked with planning, coordination, activation, and control (assessment) to ensure the successful management and implementation of the programs in practice.
