Step Up to Stop Gender-Based Violence

It is time to step in, step up and step out and stop GBV

25 November – 10 December

This year, Badisa has partnered with the Gender Task Team of the Dutch Reformed Church and Uniting Reformed Church as well as the Christian Aids Bureau of Southern Africa  (CABSA), Christian Literature Fund (CLF) and the Thursdays in Black initiative to raise awareness about this critical issue in South Africa.

Under the theme “Step In, Step Up and Step Out”, this year’s initiative will focus on engaging and educating communities to encourage South Africans to actively participate in bringing an end to gender-based violence.

16 Days to Stop Gender-Based Violence - Partner Logos

Our mission

South Africa has some of the highest rates of gender-based violence worldwide, including rape, female homicide, and domestic abuse. Our mission is to inspire individuals, communities, and institutions to take action to end this epidemic. Through education, conversation and direct support, we believe change is possible.

Step In, Step Up, Step Out

This year’s theme challenges everyone to:

Step In:

Join the conversation by challenging harmful attitudes, beliefs, and societal norms that contribute to gender-based violence.

Step Up:

Take action within your community, workplace, and home. When we know better, we must do better.

Step Out:

Invite others to take hands and join the fight. Together, we can create lasting, meaningful change.

How you can get involved
